Overview

‘Maisha Bora’ Programme organized working session to Develop Nutrition, Wash and HIV messages for SBCC in MAASAI context. The session was facilitated by TFNC to make sure that the messages are simple, clearly and to be carried the desirable content. The Maisha Bora programme is a Belgian Food Security Programme implemented for five year (2015-2019) and aim to improving food security in 15 most food insecure villages of Longido and Simanjiro District Councils. This programme is funded through the Belgian Fund for Food Security (BFFS) and is implemented by multi-actor partner organizations who are responsible for coordinating and implementing a specific component of the programme. The specific objective of the programme is “Higher and more secured income used for nutrition and improved local availability of food for 9000 households in 15 villages of Simanjiro and Longido Districts and in particular for 40% of impoverished households, women, children and youth”.

The main objective of the working session:

To review the existing training manual of the Maisha Bora programme and come up with a number of achievable and culturally attuned nutrition/WASH/HIV social behavior changes messages that build on existing knowledge, attitude and practice of Massai community

DELIVERABLES

“Bango kitita” with achievable and relevant SBCC messages for the Massai communities with enough visuals/pictures in capturing behavior changes in Nutrition, WASH and HIV

PARTICIPANTS

The workshop was facilitated by WFP/Childreach Tanzania in collaboration with Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC). A total of 40 participants were invited and including District officials from Longido and Simanjiro District Council, Outreach workers/community volunteers, representative from WFP and all Childreach Tanzania personnel working in Maisha Bora Programme.
