INTRODUCTION:
Like other countries, Tanzania faces emergencies like floods, earthquakes, droughts, and disease outbreaks, which greatly impact the health and nutrition of vulnerable groups, including children under five, pregnant and lactating women, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. These crises disrupt access to food and essential services, increasing the risk of malnutrition and preventable deaths. Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) is a key component, as young children are especially vulnerable during emergencies. Displacement, food insecurity, and disrupted caregiving environments can hinder breastfeeding and safe feeding practices, increasing the risks of malnutrition and long-term health complications. IYCF plays a vital role by ensuring that infants and young children receive proper nutrition and care in crises.
